33rd Degree Deluxe Cap (Double Cross) - Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR)

This toque (cap) is intended for the 33rd degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR, REAA). Available in white or purple, it is adorned with a double cross, two braids and a cord in gold, embroidered by hand.

The wearing of the hat by Master Masons during lodge work dates back to the 18th century, when it was associated with the wearing of the sword. The old rituals did not describe the type of hat, as these were ordinary headgear of everyday life. Only certain higher degrees prescribed specific ritual headwear: this is the case of this 33rd-degree toque.
