Mozart is nineteen when he performs in Munich in a piano contest with Ignaz von Beecke, aged forty-two. Von Beecke pursues a military career, although he is passionate about music. He taught himself the piano until he became a virtuoso. He also composes. He made several stays in Vienna, where he kept up his relations with Mozart, as well as with Gluck and Haydn. He was not a Freemason.

The correspondence between Mozart and Ignaz von Beecke presented in this book is entirely the author’s invention, based strictly on real and documented facts. The exchange begins on the day after Mozart’s Masonic initiation.

The subject of Freemasonry gives rise to many illusions and fantasies. Many people know that Mozart belonged to a Lodge, but few understand what he was looking for there and exactly what music he composed in that setting.

Through this fictional correspondence, the reader follows the musician through his initiations, his reflections, his acquaintances and his Masonic hopes. The letters also recount part of his family life, his travels, his concerts and, of course, his compositions.

The author, without being a member, knows Freemasonry, which she has studied and taught in a university setting.
