The Rite Français Moderne Rétabli (RFMR) was founded in the 1950s by a small group of Freemasons led by René Guilly, also known as René Désaguliers. Its mission was to rediscover the spirit of the original French Rite of 1785by correcting the deformations or weakenings introduced by successive revisions in the XIXᵉ and XXᵉ centuries.
While the Rite Français Groussieradopted at the Grand Orient de France in 1955, proposes a progressive modernization, the RFMR chooses on the contrary to return to the founding texts and to rehabilitating the symbolic richness of XVIIIᵉ century rituals.
For lodges that work according to the Rite Français Moderne Rétabli, the choice of decorations is an essential step: each apron, cord or saltire is not only an accessory, but also the basis of the lodge. visible testimony to our loyalty to an authentic and demanding Masonic tradition.

On Nos Colonnes, you will find all the aprons, gloves, sashes, collars, hats or kippah, ties, neckties and collar jewels used by the Freemason of the French Rite "Traditional" and "Modern".
Origins and philosophy of the Rite Français Moderne Rétabli
The Rite Français Moderne Rétabli appeared at a time when French Freemasonry was seeking a balance between tradition and modernity.
✔ Back to basics: XVIIIᵉ century rituals (such as the Mason's Regulator of 1801) serve as a model, with a desire to rediscover the sobriety, coherence and initiatory force of the Enlightenment era.
✔ Rejection of symbolic impoverishment: the "Amiable" (1887) and especially the "Gérard" (1922) versions of the French Rite had reduced the ritual to moralizing formulas, with no initiatory depth.
✔ Work by René Guilly and his companions: this group of historians and learned Masons, passionate about the history of rituals, has revived a Rite faithful to the spirit of 1785, while adapting it to contemporary lodges.
The Rite Français Moderne Rétabli is therefore part of an approach to symbolic rebirthThis is where the demands of history are combined with a desire for authenticity and Masonic rigor.
