Rectified Scottish Rite (RSR)

The Rectified Scottish Rite: a distinctive Masonic rite

The Rectified Scottish Rite (RSR) occupies a singular place in the Masonic universe. Heir to the Strict Templar Observance, he is distinguished by his assertive Christian character and his structure in several orders, each carrying a rigorous symbolic and spiritual progression.

The RSR is based on a precise and codified initiatory transmission, combining chivalric tradition and inner research. It is a demanding rite that attracts Freemasons in search of depth, moral rigor and a structured spiritual framework.

An Initiatory Way Structured in Four Stages

The Rectified Scottish Rite is divided into two major classes:

Craft masonry (Blue lodges), composed of the four grades:

  • Entered Apprentice
  • Fellowcraft
  • Master Mason
  • Scottish Master of Saint-Andrew

Inner Order, non -Masonic and chivalric:

  • Squire Novice
  • Knight Beneficent of the Holy City

In addition, there are two secret classes - Professed And Grand Professed - Reserved for a few initiates. This structure reflects a clear progression to a spiritual ideal based on Christian heritage and theosophical influences.

Three collections dedicated to the RER's Masonic decorations

Nos Colonnes Masonic Boutique offers three distinct collections to meet the needs of each stage of the Masonic journey within the Rectified Scottish Rite. Each collection complies with the ritual prescriptions of the RSR.

1.Regalia of the Craft Lodges - RSR

This collection gathers all the regalia necessary for the craft degrees of the RSR : Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft and Master Mason. You will find: Rectangular white apron with blue rosettes, embroidered white gloves, collars and jewels for craft lodge officers, tricorns and hats.

The craft lodges are the fundamental foundation of the initiatory journey. Their decorations must reflect sobriety, tradition and rigor.

2. Decors of the Scottish Masters of Saint-Andrew - RSR

The Scottish Master of Saint-Andrew, formerly attached to craft degrees, is today administered by the Inner Order in most obediences. The corresponding collection includes: Scottish Master of Saint-Andrew specific apron, with rectangular or trapezoidal flap, collars and collarettes, hats and tricorns, gloves and jewels.

It offers the Master Masons an opportunity to enrich their ritual reflection through an in-depth symbolism.

3. Regalia of the Inner Order - RSR

The Inner Order brings together the degrees of Squire Novice and Knight Beneficent of the Holy City. This collection offers: Knight cape with red patty cross, Squire Novice chlamyde, sashes, collars and collarettes, and adapted jewels, hats, gloves and belts.

These regalia symbolize the transition to a more spiritual and charitable dimension of Freemasonry.

Christian and Spiritualist Practice

Although it remains a Masonic rite in its own right, the RER is nonetheless marked by a profoundly esoteric Christian dimension. It is part of a an inner journey based on reintegration Man is seen as a fallen being who has to work on his own moral and spiritual recovery.

This perspective is directly inspired by Martinezism, an esoteric Christian doctrine that discreetly permeates the rituals. This gives the Rite a deeply spiritual, even theurgical dimensionEven if this is reserved for the highest levels.

Masonic decorations in the RER: Sobriety and meaning

Unlike other rites where the regalia are sometimes opulent or varied, The masonic regalia of the Rectified Scottish Rite are very sober. This apparent austerity reflects a search for interior elevation and moral purification.

The emblematic elements include: The very sober white apron (decorated with rosettes for the Master Mason and the Scottish Master of Saint-Andrew), theWhite gloves Symbols of purity, The collars For officers, marked with the Templar cross, masonic emblems or symbols specific to Christian spirituality of the Rite.
