Russian dolls - French Presidents
Our presidents are with us, ever-present in the news. They sometimes annoy us. We cannot forget them; they are part of our lives.
And then they are replaced, and what do we remember of them apart from a few anecdotes, vaguely a silhouette or a face… vague impressions. What is the record of 14 years of “presidential reign” for President Mitterrand?
Some of them had, in fact, been ministers under other presidents.
So matryoshkas, the “Russian dolls”, this simple tradition of depicting leaders, should appeal to you: each figurine is an opportunity to remember, to explain, to retrace memories and the famous sayings of each one, with family, friends or at work.
Mitterrand, or “la force tranquille”, the man of the left’s common programme. Cohabitation with his Prime Minister Jacques Chirac, who became president. Then Nicolas Sarkozy, a minister in one of his governments, who came back to take the presidency. With President Hollande, the left returned after a single term of the right. And finally President Macron.
