The Templar Cross in the chivalric Masonic tradition

The Templar Cross, a cross pattée with equal arms, often red on a white background, is one of the most meaningful emblems of the Western initiatory heritage. Inherited from the medieval orders of chivalry, it was incorporated into High Degree Freemasonry as a symbol of the spiritual quest pursued to its end: moral rectitude, courage in adversity and the ideal of purity.
